First Place: The First Place movement has taken the nation by storm! Started in 1981 as a ministry of First Baptist Church of Houston, First Place is a reliable, proven method of weight loss and balanced living. It continues to grow as a strong church program. First Place has had groups in 12,000 churches across the country—with over a half million members! The tremendous success of First Place is due to its biblical approach to weight management, which puts Christ first and improves every area of a person’s life: spiritual, physical, mental and emotional. The First Place program consists of nine categories, which make up the "commitments" that each member is asked to prayerfully consider and follow when joining a class: • Attendance • Encouragement • Prayer • Bible Reading • Scripture Memory • Bible Study •"Live-It" Plan • Commitment Record • Exercise For additional information please click on First Place in the links palette on the left margin of this page.

Everyone is welcome on the Alpha course! •What happens at Alpha? •Each week people meet together for a meal, a talk on topics such as "Who is Jesus?", "Why Did Jesus Die?", and  "How Can I be Sure of My Faith?",  followed by small group interaction. There is a weekend retreat midway through the course, which focuses on the person and work of the Holy Spirit. •What will it cost? •There is no charge for the Alpha course, although a small contribution might be requested for the meal each evening and for the food and accommodation during the Alpha weekend away. • For more information please click on Alpha on the links palette on the left margin of this page. (Reformed Church Women's Ministries) is intricately involved in the life of the church. They oversee many vital functions including the nursery, funeral lunches, the Bible League, visiting committee and the Prayer Chain. There are also seven groups, called circles, which serve as small groups for Bible study, support for missions and helping to disiple one another in love.

Missions:
The American Reformed Church supports missions at home and abroad! We want the world to know the good news about Jesus Christ. The great commission, "...go and make disciples of all nations..." is a job for everyone. Whether it is in support of foreign missions or ministering to the needs of a neighbor we encourage our congregation to be involved.

Youth Ministries:
The youth ministries of The American Reformed Church are as much a ministry of our youth than to our youth. From God's Angel Choir to Jr. and Sr. RCYF (Reformed Church Youth Fellowship) the young people of our church actively participate in worship service and ministry. Each week during the Sunday Morning service a Nursery and a special "Childrens Church" is provided for kids from age 3 through 2nd grade. The curriculum not only teaches them about God but enables them to meet with Him. Our RCYF groups meet during the school year on Sunday nights, it is an opportunity to explore and express their faith. Throughout the year they are involved in all sorts of activities. From concerts and youth rallies to an annual work trip, our young people are a vital part of our congregation.

Consistory:
The Consistory is the governing body of the American Reformed Church. It Consists of a Board of Elders and a Board of Deacons who oversee the spiritual and physical needs of the church. The Committees of Consistory have been created to meet specific needs such as Education, Congregational Care, Evangelism and Worship as well as Property & Finance and an Executive Committee. Ultimately the mission of our church is to move people to become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.
